Toronto Blue Jays

Right now, the Toronto Blue Jays are up 7-3 on my beloved BoSox, and Roy Halladay, the Toronto starter who has thrown a total of 96 pitches is STILL in there.

This is why the Blue Jays will never win the American League East. Halladay, an ace starter who can get an injury or two, is a damn good pitcher. With a 4 run lead and 6 outs to go, with him only starting his 2nd game of the year, and having thrown 96 pitches, he has GOT to be pulled.

In baseball, great starting pitching is king. To waste an already tired Halladay on 6 outs, when you've already won the first 2 games this weekend against the BoSox, shows how bad a decision this is. If you can't win a game you're leading by 4 runs in the top of the 8th inning at home, with your bullpen you don't deserve to win...and it's monumentally stupid to force your ace pitcher to throw that many extra pitches in only his second start of the year.

Bad pitching management will kill you later in the year, come the dog days of the summer grind, not to mention October if you get that far. Ask the Cleveland Indians why they lost to the BoSox even after going up 3 games to 1 in a 7 game series...their starting pitching (especially their 2 aces) was completely gassed.
