I was all set

...to go to bed immediately following Countdown w/ Olbermann, but the Palin greatest/lowest hits show just keeps running and making me laugh harder and harder.

Yesterday, it was disturbing that Palin was unable to name any Supreme Court case decision other than Roe-v-Wade. No Brown-v-B.O.E., no Plessy-v-Ferguson, not even a Bush-Gore.

But, this one really topped the cake. When Couric asked her to name some periodicals she read recently (newspaper, magazines)...Palin couldn't name ONE. ONE??!! NOT ONE??!!

It's so hysterical, it's pathetic, sad and deeply depressing. This is a whopper.

Pelosi

I have not been a fan of Ms. Pelosi, the Dem Majority Leader in the House, though I prefer her over the incredibly corrupt and intolerable Murtha.

I haven't liked many things she has done. For example: Saying the Dems wouldn't be open to off shore drilling, then caving and saying we could discuss it.

But, I give props to her yesterday. She busted her butt for the votes to pass that bail-out bill while her counterpart Boner-boy stood idly by picking his nose and thumbing his boner in the corner. She saw the Repos were trying to swindle the Dems, by getting them to A: do all the legwork, and then B: allowing them to run on that issue for a good month before election day in November.

She saw the swindle happening, and called off the dogs...for that much, while I believe this bailout must be passed, I give her props as well.

Dems...watch, and learn from the masters

Despite the lack of bipartisan support for this bail-out bill this afternoon, and thus it's bloody carcass lying naked on the House floor...Democrats need to look to their immediate right...stand...applaud...and take notes.

Why?

Because this day, a day when the bail-out package died in largely the hands of right-wing House Republicans, if you are a politically savvy person...I'm sorry...but, you MUST admire and applaud what the right-wingers did today.

A good chunk of those House Repos were in tough re-election battles perhaps, thus swaying their need to NOT vote for what can be packaged in an campaign ad as a blatant expansion of government, but they did something the Democrats have NEVER done as far as I know in my lifetime:

The stood for the principles they believe in (as wacko as they may be) and showed why they consistently win elections to the White House, and Dems have struggled mightily.

They took their over-arching principle of a belief in small government, and they essentially threw away their chances at winning a Presidential Election.

The right-wingers held their ground, and they willingly, knowingly sand-bagged their Presidential Campaigner for holding their principle.

Sure, they likely will witness a bloodbath of epic proportions come this November at the ballot box.

But, they know what Dems do not...they will easily swing that 2 or even 4 years later to their advantage, and successfully hang the charge of Obama being responsible for this bail-out and giving money to corporate greed asshats. Not to mention the idea that they will hang ANY economic woes around the neck of Obama and the Dems for increased Government spending...and stupid, rural Americans who can't remember what happened last week will buy their line hook, line, and sinker.

The right-wingers are indeed throwing in the towel based on principle knowing they will suffer badly in the short term, but they also know they will reap BIG dividends years later.

Is it a gamble? Sure. A big gamble? Sure, never know what happens in 3-4 years. But, they know their spin doctors are better, they know that the likelihood is that the economy will still be suffering post effects of this event and the Iraq war...they are smart people. They are ruthless.

Democrats...watch and learn. I beg you. Watch and learn from the masters of real politik.

Final Note on the failed vote itself: Pelosi, held her end of the bargain delivering the votes in the House. Boner-boy did not hold his end of the deal. Those who voted against this bill will ultimately regret it short term as the American body politic wants to see action. Also, OCGM did his part to scuttle this bill inadvertently or not, but neither him nor Obama showed political courage here. That said, Obama played it smart. For if he tried to get in the middle he would have been lashed for trying to make Presidential politics out of it, and while OCGM was given a pass AGAIN...Obama would have been killed. A deal is needed, but it won't mean the end of the world. But again, I predict there will be a new deal reached later this week.

To bail or not to bail...

I've been mulling over, silently listening to the debate from people around about this supposed bailout plan.

Being an economic populist, I tend to not support any bailout if the people who made their sweaty, bloody wads of cash on the backs of poor American middle-class workers are the ones being given the real life saver here.

I was always told we live in a capitalist society, the "market will police itself," none of which I have bought for years (see Alzheimer's President in Chief).

My heart and my liberal ego who wants to effectively push the shit into the face of the puppy who just shat all over the place, wants these firms to flat-out go belly up with the big CEOs taking home literally peanuts for their effort.

But, my brain, the logician part of me, knows better. He knows that despite the moment of victorious rejoice will be fun to watch, the aftermath will be so brutal on the people getting really screwed, my heart would ache.

Listening to the McLaughlin Group as I do most Friday nights on PBS, I couldn't help but sneer at Mort Zuckerman. While he knew better months ago and moved his holdings away from danger and into literally cash, he towed the line that we must give these companies a life boat. Bailing out the two F's was essential, as was AIG.

I sneered because ultimately, I am smart enough to know how stupid I am when it comes to understanding how an economy of our magnitude really works.

That said, he nor Paulson know either for sure. When Rep. Richard Shelby (Repo) cae out swinging his signed paper of over 200 economists from MIT, etc, etc that was the clearest evidence yet that no matter how smart an economist might be...NO ONE has a freakin' clue as to what will happen in this time of turmoil.

That alone should freak American's out. While Paulson seems to be an honorable, and truthful figure (one of a few in the Dubya years), I still am not sure he is right. Moreover, for them to suggest we hand them a $700 billion blank check without some ties to it, is frankly...moronic and preposterous.

I support a bailout of limited proportions and with some serious strings attached, because it sadly, only appears to be the rational thing to do at this juncture.

Finally, a side note. Do not let the right-wing talking points fool you: The lending of money to people who were/are poor for buying a house is NOT why we are in this crisis. Historically, since that policy was instituted in the Clinton years, the lower income people have been the most reliable re-payers of loans in America.

It was not these low income people who sunk this economy...it was those middle class Americans who had the more than adequate ranch house for their family, who just couldn't help themselves but reach above their heads for a house they really couldn't afford because why?...THEY SIMPLY WANTED IT. It was those people who had a good sized house for their family, who got greedy and took out a 2nd mortgage to "buy" a beach/summer house.

These are the greedy bastards to blame...it's clear that low income people know who they are and are willing to live with that, it's that upper belt of the middle class who can't stand living within their means because of their greed. These are the people who should also pay. Let them keep their main house, but they should forfeit that 2nd house outright. And they should be ashamed of themselves.

Debate Numero Uno

In this debate around Foreign Policy, long assumed to be the OCGM's strongest suit, Obama, if he didn't outright beat OCGM...he more than held is own showing a keen sense of a command of the issues of the day.

No big punches, from my weak-ass memory were hit, but he was very solid and showed depth within the issue. But, if Obama can produce the documentation on Kissinger's comments about meeting without pre-conditions with Iran, and I believe he can, that will be a painful hit on OCGM.

Letterman

I love David Letterman, and the OCGM was supposed to be on his show tonight.

Apparently, OCGM dropped Letterman and ran over to do Couric interview on CBS, which clearly peeved Dave...first thing you should know about Dave: Don't peeve Dave.

Even Dave has begun mocking OCGM now.

Per Drudge: Dave kept saying, "You don't suspend your campaign. This doesn't smell right. This isn't the way a tested hero behaves." And he joked: "I think someone's putting something in his metamucil."

"He can't run the campaign because the economy is cratering? Fine, put in your second string quarterback, Sara Palin. Where is she?"

"What are you going to do if you're elected and things get tough? Suspend being president? We've got a guy like that now!"

A lame staging

Watching 60 Minutes as Scott Pelley, the future of CBS News, interviews OCGM. And there's a moment when they highlight and show video of OCGM getting a hug and envelope from the wife of a killed soldier in Afghanistan.

Tellingly, this video/event took place on the tarmac shortly after OCGM landed for his interview. It's a pathetic, staged device that continues to use dead soldiers to make himself and republicans in general look like the "real supporters" of the war.

No one gets that close to a Presidential candidate without serious vetting, and knowing why/what the person intends to give to said candidate.

Pathetically, OCGM holds the envelope in his hands, and reads the note to him and his campaign, and then holds up the dog tags of said killed soldier.

Lame as shit. OCGM you're a pathetic piece of shit. I'm ashamed for you.

The Debate structure

In my early judgment here, the OCGM and the Obama campaigns played this 1/2 right and 1/2 wrong...more specifically 3/4 right and 1/4 wrong. Here's a story on the debates and how they've been set-up.

I think the OCGM campaign would have benefited from letting Palin get beat up a bit in a free-flowing debate where Biden would be more likely to overstep his bounds, let some big gaffe slip, and let Palin look like the victim. From the reporting, it sounded like Obama wanted free-flowing throughout the 4 debates.

Normally, I would concur. But, with Biden's tendency to catch foot-in-mouth disease, this ultimately helps him stay on message and within a limited time frame response-wise.

On the other hand, Obama no doubt believes he can outwit, outplay, outlive the OCGM in a debate. All evidence in the campaign points to it, as he has shown some serious "senior moments."

But, I would caution Obama here to take a careful tone. With the not-so-shocking news (as far as I am concerned) that white Dems still harbor some racist tendencies towards Obama, it would be damaging if Obama were to be seen as badgering, bludgeoning a batered, and bruised POW veteran. And you know, as we have seen lately, OCGM has been abashedly unashamed of using his "war record" and his "sacrifice" to make himself the "outsider."

A black man, even cooly, and calmly, and on the facts, beating up a tired, old, scarred emotionally and physically OCGM, could be seen as unseemly, and pathetic.

I still want Obama to crush this false "maverick" knucklehead who has clearly taken the right-wing up the ass recently, but he must be careful in how he slices and dices. And he must slice and dice. Thin line to walk here.

This just in...

When being a waiter/waitress, you do not get extra tip/brownie points for memorizing my order instead of writing it down.

I'd much rather have you take copious notes and get the blasted thing right...but, I'm just a sayin'...

Kofinos

The lefties aren't seeing what is directly in front of them. As Kris Kofinos, former top aide to John Edwards, makes abundantly clear. Kofinos and the lefties are being duped again.

Karl Rove. Of the many things we know, we know this much: He's a Bush family man. He dislikes the OCGM greatly because he doesn't believe he's a "real" Republican. And he would probably love to seal his legacy as one of the greatest Presidential campaign runners of all time.

How does he do that? By taking easy swipes, that seem innocuous, at OCGM. Taking swipes in an effort to secretly sabotage any chance OCGM has to win this election.

Why? Well, the answer is directly in front of the Democrats assuming Obama'a ascendancy into the Oval.

If Obama wins, the list of realistic Republican choices of who to run against him in 2012 is thin. Romney? No way. Guiliani, perhaps. Bloomberg...maybe. But, Jeb Bush...FOR SURE.

Mark this bloggers typeage on this date: Rove is quietly plotting to lead the campaign for former Florida Governor and brother of Dubya, Jeb Bush for President in 2012.

Rove would relish a campaign against one of the most progressive/liberal members of congress, even if he is an incumbent. And Rove knows Dubya has fucked up the war so bad, Obama may well be crippled by being stuck with an unwinable war that will hurt his favorability numbers.

Beware Florida rerun

In an epic job of showing after 8 years they have managed to do jack-squat in their efforts to better polling...Florida is back at showing their true colors.

Nothing like a new problem that is actually an 8 year old problem. Check this out: What was an election where election officials found a few thousand missing ballots, now after counting those, they have too MANY ballots.

Brilliant Florida. Now you know why the hurricanes keep bitch-slapping your ass...God is obviously mad at you for being such blockheads in election reform.

Finally comes the blowback?

One can only hope this day marks a harbinger of things to come in this election cycle: The MSM taking on the OGCM's campaign and the outrageous lies and bullshit "facts" he and his campaign have been spewing out via negative ads.

This article from the Saturday NYT drives home the point that the MSM may FINALLY have had enough of the OGCM's antics and have begun to call him out for what he has become: a liar.

Post-Script: For the record, I think Obama's snark about the pig with lipstick still being a pig, was actually a big slap to Palin. But, considering her bullshit whoppers she's told so far, bitch had it coming.

In the defense of Palin

I didn't see the interview in question, but I heard on a PodCast Charles Gibson ask Gov. Palin what she thought of the "Bush Doctrine."

Okay, call me crazy, but she had no reasonable expectation to answer that question.

1. She's a right-wing lunatic with no experience.

2. More importantly, what has been the Bush Doctrine been anway? Seriously! It's been all over the map. No one with a clear mind could possibly tell you what the Doctrine might actually be because it's been so hap-hazard through his 7 years.

3. Let's assume I am wrong and one could logically state a Doctrinaire position of this poorly-led government these past 7 years; I'd hardly call that the "Bush" anything. It's more like the "Cheney" something.

4. Bush was always/has always been co-opted. At least since 9/11. And if OCGM gets into that office he won't stay alive for more than a year due to the stresses of the job, and Palin will be the new officeholder and she will be INCREDIBLY easily co-opted by the right-wing Neo-Cons it will make the co-opting of Bush look like tinker toys.

Obama IS be a cheatin' liar!!!

Today, this morning, BARRY commited a big, whopper of a verbal error...and we thought we'd have to worry about Biden...*sigh*

Barry may have cost himself the election today, yes, seriously.

During an exchange with ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "This Week," the Democratic Presidential nominee was outlining his Christianity but accidentally said, "my Muslim faith."

Since it was on the tv, it will be a 527 ad...a la Swift Boat...only these will be Obama's own words.

Easily paint him as a closet Muslim with this ad, and in red state America...you'll find people shitting their pants.

As far as this blogger is concerned, this seals it for me. I always assumed he was a closeted Muslim, and now I do believe he is. Why change your name to fucking Barack? I this is a slip that was Freudian. No way when he switched that from Barry, he ever saw himself being in a Presidential race with a very good shot to win, becuase I doubt he would have.

I also happen to believe that Down's Syndrome Palin baby, is not the Governor's either. I smell a huge cover-up job here, and he daughter who is NOW preggers, is the real mother.

No matter though, Barry fucked the pooch this morning. Then he apparently proceeded to say he had "considered" going into the military after his college graduation after NO mention of that in either of his 2 books.

This makes me ill, and I'm disgusted. Laying free, easy advertisements into the Republican lap is not helpful, they don't need the help. As has been well-documented before, they do far better with attacks than Dems do already.

Blech!

As heard @ Starbucks

Dumb biz-ach just hopped on her cell. Blew up her friend and told him/her that Mike (apparently her "man") asked her over the phone if she wanted to have a baby.

Person on other end said something and she replied, "Isn't that sooo cool?"

Later she notes she can't tell her family...wonder why *cough*.

I blame the moose Governor. Thanks a lot Palin, we need you out there promoting having babies young as "cool."

Reading early leaves of thy tea

Not literally, as I use tea bags.

If your a Democrat, there appears to be mixed news following both conventions.

Drudge says the Repos beat the Dems in overall audience for the convention. According to the article he links, it appears that he cherry-picked the one stat that would allow him to justifiably lead his website with said headline. But, when reading the actual story, it's more of a toss-up than a Republican over Democrat in terms of convention watchers.

Fine, let's give old Matt the benefit of the doubt here (I know, I know...).

But, it may appear that a combination of Obama's speech on the prospect of real change when compared to what the Republican's rolled out (especially that nitwit Miss Cheap-Shot Palin) voters are flocking to Democrats to register to vote.

To be fair, this doesn't mean those voters will, in fact, vote for Democrats. I don't know the precedent or accuracy of registering to vote with party X and how that correlates actually voting for party X, but one would have to think...it's quite high. Why else would Political Parties put such money into voter registration activities.

Being from "the Heartland," even the Democrats there did it. And I saw it work in a town I lived in during my college years, I volunteered for the local party and we over-turned two city council seats through voter registration and getting out our message alone. One of those became the new Mayor the following election cycle, and 6-7 years later, her name is still on top of the Mayoral letterhead for the city.

Moreover, let me just add this little ditty about Miss Palin: A small town mayor is EXACTLY what it sounds like...a small-town mayor. I'm not going to claim I was intimately familiar with the mayoral schedule, but it didn't seem like a lot. For goodness sakes, I believe she held down another job on the side!!

In conclusion: Assuming the 3-day Repo Convention had more viewers than the 4-day Democrat Convention, American voters may not have liked what they saw despite all the hoopla in the "hall." Gov. Palin may have come across, in retrospect, too harsh for voters' tastes who were looking for serious answers to serious problems. Yet, we can't make the same mistake as we did with Dubya, the Dems shouldn't overlook her either.

I call on the Obama campaign to put forth an aggressive strategy way ahead of the VP Debate to down-play expectations on Biden, and hype the prowess of the Governor.

Masurbatory Maniacle Menace

What a total masturbatory speech by OCGM. That was a dearth of a speech.

Very self-flagellating on his POW status...that seems to be his only "qualification," which I would argue being tortured and beaten is not as such.

My Stomach is ill

I was watching/listening to tonight's coverage of the whack-job convention, when I hear them starting to announce this 9/11 video.

I moved onto football until I was fairly sure it'd be over, so I can't say I wanted it...but, apparently, the 9/11 tragegy has officially jumped the shark and even more blatantly been made into a political puppet by the OCGM Campaign.

To hear this alone, not even seeing the video, but reading the descriptions of what was on it...my stomach is ill.

Got to hand to these sick bastards, they will stoop to virtually every level.

Negativa Ads

On MSNBC, Norah O'Donnell just said the OCGM Campaign has run 15 different negative/contrast ads, while Obama has run 14 different ones. I haven't see many of the Obama negative/contrast ads towards OCGM. That could be due to the media market I am residing in.

However, I would suggest while they may have both ran the same number of different negative/contrast ads, I would venture a house bet that OCGM's Campaign has ran more when looking at sheer bulk of number of ads of this type.

The one thing

Republicans, for years have done it well.

Consistently, in election cycle after election cycle, they have found that one theme that "hits home" and resonates.

In 2000, the Repos did it with "dignity." In 2004, Bush did what Guiliani did 4 years late, noun, verb, "9/11."

Palin just informed us of what this new theme is for the rest of the election: "McCain was tortured."

A very condescending speech which I personally found distasteful, but it will play well with the males they are clearly targeting with her. Definitely looking for the white male vote.

Finally, we have definitely found the "cut man" in the OCGM's campaign.

As Heard...

upon passing by a room with C-SPAN on, focused on some speeches at the Limited RNC...

"We believe in the rule of law...," immediate preceded with me cackling like an old lady.

Barking up the wrong tree

OCGM is barking up the wrong tree, AND he is doing so unsolicited by this household. I got some lovely literature from OCGM last week just before his crazy-mad VP pick.

I'm thrilled to see he spent some coin sending me some crap. I intend to take the postage-paid envelope and attach it to something very heavy to see if I can waste more of his campaign dollah. Seriously though, he is barking up the wrong state, much less the wrong freaking tree.

A Separation

From this moment forward, this will be the blog I use to post political stuff only...as the political junk has massively overtaken the main blog.

My new blog (I suppose) covering more general topics you may have preferred to read about will be posted at this new location.

Happy, happy, joy, joy, happy, happy, joy, joy...weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
