In typical Comcast fashion, anyone who has dealt with these fuck-wits knows how much this company continues to blow chunks year after year, they are up to their old tricks.
However, it's not just Comcast, it's apparently all of the HD providers, Comcast just happens to be the biggest and thus gets the most shit (but, they deserve it anyway).
HD TV is proving to be the same technological maze and perhaps scham that people invested in the HD-DVD versus Blue-Ray DVD's found. The very same conundrum that has plagued comsumers as technology advances and no one knows which device is going to take over: Betacam/VHS, Laserdiscs/DVD, etc.
Verizon Fios has had similar problems/customer complaints, where they strip out your cable in order to sloppily put in the new cable, thus forcing you to stick with the service because you no longer have your normal cable accessible.
It seems HD dvd may not be all it's cracked up to be. And as a typical American telecom corporations, Comcast, Dish Network, DirecTV, etc are doing what they do best...they market the hell out of a product that is an apparent actual significant upgrade. But, then when it comes to implementing the product after they have the consumer on the proverbial hook, they stab a hundred knives in their back to distract them from the shitty way they implement the service.
Per this story from MSNBC, consumers are beginning to garner notice for the shouting they've been doing in online forums where they pan the quality of HD service. It seems these corporations, instead of spending the money in infrastructure and improving bandwidth, they have been compressing the HD signal to fit in the current bandwidth, which then causes part of the signal to be lost and the quality to be seriously diminished.
This is why I have not purchased a new dvd player of any sorts. This is why I buy regular dvd's. This is also why I will be waiting a good long while before I upgrade my television service to get the HD TV. Because, clearly the service isn't being delivered they way it's promised, and you have to buy a new tv to get the full features of HD TV.
Moreover, much like it is with food...once you go up in quality of food, it's a bitch to go back. One you've tasted great food, it's really hard to go back to the boring ass chain's like TGI Fridays (they stink). I've heard that the HD TV is so good, it makes watching sports on normal tv almost unbearable once you've seen it and gotten used to it.
A Good Feeling
