Not 3 minutes ago, Sen. Jim Webb (D-Virginia) did a segment on one of my fave shows: Countdown with Keith Olbermann.
Webb has apparently been discouraging Obama and/or Clinton from choosing him as a potential VP nominee. Olbermann pressed very lightly on this and Webb didn't come out and say he was doing such a thing. Therefore, I don't think if he was asked, he would ultimately turn it down...though, it may take some convincing.
Otherwise, during the segment, Webb showed why he might be THEE pick. He comes across as a straight-shooter, while still having some ability to duck a query he choses not to completely answer (see previous paragraph). Moreover, he came across as serious, but also disarmingly cordial and...showed some humor.
Back that up with a load of gravitas he clearly displays, and while I haven't seen any of his debates when he was running for Senate, he strikes me as a load to handle in a debate. The fact alone that within months of his first day in office, it was known that after Dubya asked him about his child who is in Iraq in a somewhat joking manner, Webb had all he could do not to cold-cock the fucker.
Every time I see him on television, he is impressive to me. And if he doesn't get chosen as the VP nod...I see a possible Presidential candidate in the future. Although, his humility may, just may, require him to be chosen as the VP candidate because he doesn't strike me as having the interest in running. But, I'm sure that could change.
P.S. Per Olbermann, the pastor McCain was begging for his endorsement, Rev. John Hagee...apparently auido has been found where this knucklehead, Jesus-lover said Hitler was sent by God to make the Jews move to Israel...that is freakin' hilarious...and brilliant. Great choice McCain, even your friend ex-Sen. Chuck Hagel is starting to doubt your sanity.
