Approx. 4 hours ago, America and those of us in New England got the bad news: The last of a dynasty is going to lose his life, likely within a calendar year.
Edward "Ted" Kennedy was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor following some seizures this past weekend at the Kennedy compound on the Cape in Hyannis.
Of all American political families, the Kennedy's have been thee family. After both JFK and Bobby were taken from American life FAR, FAR too soon, Ted carried the liberal torch throughout the decades.
A malignant brain tumor is BAD news, especially following some seizures. This likely means the tumor is big enough that operation is untenable, and chemotherapy may only buy himself some time. I've hear stories that those who get this diagnosis usually go fairly quickly...within a year, so I don't look forward to the day I come home to the even worse news that our days of the Kennedy's is over.
There will still be Kathleen Kennedy-Townsend around, the sister, but her career is virtually nonexistent. America will lose a stalwart, and a dynasty. Hope you don't go out in too much pain Ted.

This is so very sad. I really hope that he lives to see the first black president elected. He deserves to see that.
I'd love to see Caroline go into politics, but I totally understand why she may not ever want to do that. There are other Kennedys who can step in, but the sons of Joseph and Rose were/are very, very special.
