Campaign Finance Reform and Obama

As he signaled as far back as April, Obama has decided to deny public financing for his Presidential campaign, and while he may take a few hits for this, I salute him.

So-called 527 Advertisements will be key to McCain's campaign and they will fight nasty. Thus, Obama will need all the cash he can grab to beat back those nasty ads.

Until the Court realizes that free speech shouldn't extend to these damn 527 organizations (and perhaps, the most active is currently a Democrat-leaning one) I think we should embrace private financing.

Dems should continue to built their internet network of small donors, who can be brought into the fold.

McCain has said he's play nice, but clearly he has lied. He can stop those 527 if he really wanted to, and he won't. Moreover, McCain himself has gone back and forth on this public financing issue. So, he has no leg to stand on in a real sense, and Obama or some Democrat-leaning 527 organization can swiftly put together an tv ad that uses McCain's own words against him on this.

Bring it on old man, bring it on.
